DISCOVER HISTORY IN AN EXCITING ENVIRONMENT AND IN AN INNOVATIVE WAY!

Inspired by terra sigillata vessels, Roman ceramics from the museum collection, the artists used the bottom of standard PET bottles as a form and provided the outer wall of the museum with a structure that at first glance seemed random, but was in fact calculated using a complex mathematical process.

Seen from the lake, the historicist facade of the former district administration divides the building. The most striking feature is the huge panoramic window on the top floor, which promises a fantastic view over Lake Constance and the Lindau shore, where the guest, moved by the many impressions, experiences a moment of peace and contemplation.

But the new vorarlberg museum not only shines with attractive architecture and excellent infrastructure: the main attraction are the more than 150,000 artefacts from art, history, folklore and archeology as well as numerous exhibitions that deal with the history and present of the westernmost province of Austria from a wide variety of perspectives and aimed at everyone who enjoys discovery.

VORARLBERG MUSEUM: REVIEW AND OUTLOOK

In the first few years of its existence, the vorarlberg museum attaches great importance to defining its broad area of ​​responsibility in the same way as a state museum, while taking into account current museum tendencies and thus developing a profile in the confusingly wide museum landscape. In fact, the house on the Kornmarktplatz in Bregenz has become a heavily frequented meeting place (“a bee house”, as a visitor recently put it) that was able to set new standards in the Austrian and international context. By December 2nd, around 54,000 people had visited the exhibitions and events in the vorarlberg museum – this does not include the exhibitions in the atrium.
