Welcome to Bregenz Christmas

Bregenz Christmas promises an atmospheric Advent season in Vorarlberg's capital: at Kornmarktplatz, Rathausstraße, Leutbühel and in the historic upper town, arts and crafts, Christmas delicacies and musical entertainment are waiting to be discovered. This year, in addition to the festive experience, one thing in particular is taking centre stage: the joint path to greater accessibility and inclusion. In collaboration with experts and affected individuals, important initial measures have been implemented to make the market more accessible to all visitors.

Open daily until 23 December:
11 AM – 8 PM Trade
11 AM – 9 PM Food & Drinks

Christmas Market

15/11 - 23/12
Contemplative moments and atmospheric hours - from November 15 to December 23, Bregenz Christmas transforms the city into a festive experience for young and old. The festive illumination of the Christmas tree on Leutbühel marks the start of the most wonderful time of the year in Bregenz: the aroma of hot punch, roasted almonds and many other delicacies of the Advent season fills the air and puts the city in a festive mood.

On Kornmarktplatz, the lovingly decorated Christmas market invites you to marvel at handicrafts and original gift ideas - everyone will find a gift or two for their loved ones here.

The charming arts and crafts market in the Upper Town, the old town of Bregenz, is particularly popular on three weekends during the Advent season. The wait for the Christ Child is also sweetened for the youngest visitors: a skating rink made of artificial ice, a nostalgic carousel, a viewing platform with a panoramic view of the Christmas market and a varied children's program at the weekends make children's eyes light up. New this year is a children's railway with a station at Leutbühel and an integrated baking and craft room. In addition, the Bregenzer Festspiele sleigh provides a special highlight as a photo spot. From Friday to Sunday, Bregenz Christmas is accompanied by choirs and concerts at the Christmas market. In addition, Bregenz businesses offer a variety of smaller and larger atmospheric exhibitions and Christmas program activities. You can also experience the magic of Christmas on board the unique Vorarlberg Lines Christmas ship, which will once again connect Bregenz Christmas with Lindau Harbour Christmas this year.

Night Watchman Tour

When darkness falls in Bregenz, it is time for the night watchman to make his rounds. His lantern illuminates dimly lit alcoves and gloomy corners. As he walks through the alleys and across the squares, he sheds light on the dark, legendary secrets surrounding St. Martin's Tower. For centuries, he watched over the citizens as they slept peacefully. Today, he tells of the changing times, of the threats to the city and of how the cunning of women saved it from danger. And, of course, what his nightly cry means: ‘Ehret die Guta!’
From 15/11 to 19/12 every Friday at 5.30 PM
Additional dates: 14/11 at 3.45 PM, 21/11 & 12/12 at 7.30 PM

Bregenz Advent magic

When the days grow shorter, a very special time begins. Christmas is approaching. Bregenz also decorates itself with fir trees and glittering fairy lights. The scent of cinnamon, punch and wood fires wafts through the streets. While the lower town is bustling with activity, the quiet alleys of the medieval upper town are the perfect place to enjoy the pre-Christmas atmosphere. On this leisurely walk through Bregenz, you will learn exciting and little-known facts about how we get into the Christmas spirit. Let yourself be enchanted! Hot refreshments will be provided along the way.

In addition, accessible public toilets are available, and menus in Braille make the visit easier for people with visual impairments. This year, an assistance service will again be available on site to provide visitors with specific support as needed – for example, with orientation or access to certain areas – thus enabling them to enjoy the Christmas market as independently as possible.
