BUSINESS RELOCATION & VACANCY MANAGEMENT 

OPEN TO NEW THINGS New concepts and ideas need space and offer the opportunity to give different neighborhoods new potential and to react to changes in the market. The attractiveness of a city also thrives on constant change, so it is also becoming increasingly important to promote temporary solutions. In this way, vacancies can become an opportunity and offer new space for trade, art or culinary delights. The Economic Service regularly surveys the number of available real estate spaces on the first floor and contacts owners or managers. At the same time, new interested parties are contacted, with consideration for the branch mix. The city's geographic information system (GIS) is of particular help to the economic service. All relevant vacancies and their most important parameters, such as location, size, condition, costs and the like, can be recorded, mapped and managed in a separate database.

TEMPORARY ART - ART IN A VACANT LOT

An initiative of the Cultural Service of the City of Bregenz and Bregenz Tourismus & Stadtmarketing GmbH. The temporary use of vacancies or their shop windows by means of interventions by selected artists:inside offers a spatial extension of the exhibition practice and presentation of exciting contemporary artistic approaches and perspectives.  

In order to enable guests of the city of Bregenz to experience culture, vacant spaces in the city center became temporary galleries in the summer of 2020. Bregenz City Marketing had initiated this project in cooperation with the Professional Association of Visual Artists of Vorarlberg. At several locations in Bregenz, empty spaces and a square in public space were filled with art objects and installations - as part of a tremendously lively cultural summer in Bregenz. This pilot project showed how the topic of vacancies can be dealt with in the future.

The following exhibitions could be realized in the period from 31.07. to 29.08.2020. GERRY AMMANN - Installation MEIN ZIELRAUM. RAUM OHNE FENSTER project in the former vault of a bank in GWL, MUELLER-DIVJAK - installation SAFE DISCO. Dance the capitalism! On the first floor of the GWL, LINUS BARTA - sound and light installation including performance POWER PLANT, in a vacant building at Kornmarktplatz 5.

WINTERWORLD

Efforts are also already underway for 2021 to occupy vacant buildings with new concepts during the peak season.   
WINTER WORLDS Sharing moments of happiness - an enchanting time-out in the middle of Bregenz From the end of November to the end of February, three vacant buildings and four market houses were occupied with so-called winter worlds as part of "Bregenzer Weihnacht". The Bregenzerwald graphic designer Simone Angerer was responsible for the concept. The display consisted of silhouettes and window stickers and allowed visitors to immerse themselves for brief moments in an enchanting time-out in the middle of Bregenz.
